From Jen Berger, Pier to Peak Alumni:
“Anyone can say they are running coach. They meet you at the City College track, hold a stop watch and yell at you to go faster or ride alongside you with a bike as you jog along Carrillo Blvd and you “learn” to increase your milage. You could probably go that route for a general half marathon and maybe sneak by it for full marathon.Thinking of running Pier to Peak? Well that’s a whole other animal that no doubt requires a special coach.  13.1 miles and a 4,000 foot elevation increase to the top of Gilbraltar. Sounds simple right??? Right.
WRONG. SUPER WRONG.
Let me tell you as someone who is about to run it for the third time, there is no way in hell I am doing it without the coaching and guidance of Kristiana from Alaris Fitness. She is the secret to successfully completing this race injury free and with a kick ass time.

In addition to specializing in running, Kristiana is also a GREAT coach. As a high school long distance runner who had injury after injury – I was looking to train with someone who understood it will take your whole body to get up the mountain, not just your legs. Kristiana trains your whole body.

It will take more than just a strength and endurance to make it to the top of Gilbraltar. Pier to Peak above all else is mentally challenging. Kristiana’s seasoned coaching and personal experience of running up that mountain allows her to know the exact location where your mind will start to give in. She will train you to stay focused and know that with a little push from the inside you can make it to the top.

It’s going to be an exciting race this year – hope to see you at the top with an Alaris shirt on your back and the wisdom to know you chose the right coach.”

Training starts July 5th and will take place Tuesday/Thursday at 6am and Saturday at 6:30 am. Program is limited to 30 participants.
